AI coding assistants have moved from autocomplete to autonomous teammates. The [2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey](https://survey.stackoverflow.co/2025/ai/) found 84% of developers use or plan to use AI tools and 51% use them daily — but only 29% fully trust the output. Choosing well is now an architectural decision, not a plugin preference.

7. **JetBrains Junie** — deep IDE integration plus a portable CLI.
8. **AWS Kiro** — spec-driven IDE replacing Amazon Q Developer.

**Quick verdict:** Cursor for most professional developers, Cline for the best price-to-power ratio, and Claude Code when you need a terminal agent to reason across a large backend. The strongest pattern in 2026 is pairing an IDE assistant with a terminal agent.
